That sounds like a load of crap to me. Have you seen the inside of a
door lock solenoid? You've got wire wrapped around plastic spools.
Said spools are placed onto a hollow metal shaft, and another piece of
metal slips into that shaft.

*Ahem*. Get your minds out of the gutter. I know how you people think.

Anyway, "melting" internally would mean making those coils so hot that
they deform that shaft. While I can't say it's totally impossible, I
find it really hard to believe something like that could happen. Quite
frankly, the wires leading to the door lock solenoids should catch
fire long before they ever get hot enough to melt anything.

Of course, then you're trapped in a car that's on fire. But if you're
lucky, the wiring will burn through and release the power to the lock
solenoids, allowing you to get out with burns on only half your body.
