I used a wadded-up plastic grocery bag in mine.  I removed
all the black sticky tar insulation because it's messy and I
don't think it does any good.  Does yours have the black
vinyl escutcheon that seals around the a/c & heater core
lines?  That seals pretty tight except for between the a/c
lines.  So I just stuffed some plastic bags in there.  If I
wanted it perfect, I would squirt a shot of expanding foam
insulation in there.
