The short answer is yes. The contaminants will be recovered
but they will also be removed by the recovery/recycling machine.
"Air" isn't really an issue, it's the water vapor, oil, and particles
from seal and compressor wear. It all gets removed and what you get
back (while it may not be "your" refrigerant) will be "good stuff".
