[DMCForum] Engine Oil questions

Hi Lads,
I need some advice on engine oil, as it is about time I changed it - 
18 months and 5000 miles since my last oil change.

The oil currently in the car is Valvoline 20w50 Fully Synthetic, 
which I can't get in Ireland.
The closest fully synthetic oil I can get is 5w40 (or possibly 10w40).
I can get 20w50 in a semi-synthetic blend.

Anyway, what should I go for? Is there a problem going from fully 
synthetic to semi synthetic? 

The engine has 25,000 original miles and runs very smooth.

Any advice is appreciated!
