RE: [DMCForum] Water pumps

The pumps I sell come from the OE supplier to Volvo, Like the Renault
pumps
come from Renault themselves. Renault didn't make the engines either, so
what makes the Renault pump the correct one and the Volvo pump the
incorrect
one. Don't say shaft because you can order that any way you want it when
you make pumps. Don't say backs, because it's an attachment and 99% of the
time the back is good.
As you know on the B28 engine, which John used has a combination of
suppliers and since he didn't cast his on pumps and the car is made up up
of
a hodge podge of many suppliers, what makes Renault pumps the correct ones
and the Volvo pumps the incorrect ones. They both fit, they will both last
20 years and they both pump coolant.
Volvo is made in Italy and Renault is made where.

Perhaps I shouldn't have used the term "much better" - apologies for
that.

I am not saying your pumps are poor quality. You may think they are the
same but they are not - and definitely not made on the same production
line. We had them side by side earlier today. The Renault pumps are the
correct pump for the DeLorean engine in every way. I am _not_ trying to
compete - we don't sell to the US market. Our only choice is a generic
(ie not OEM) Volvo pump (without back plate), or a genuine Renault pump,
or import from the US. The Ren pump ends up slightly more expensive but
comes with a fitted brand new back plate.and the correct length shaft
making fitting the pulley a doddle. Which one would you use, given the
choice? The same choice you made when deciding to sell Volvo thermostats
  probably.

Now, back to the plot - you get your pulleys from Rob, don't you?
