That's where mine is vented too (charcoal canister removed for future cruise control vacuum tank, but may ultimately tap into original tank and just use grommets for line out). Can use 1/4" check valve there -- MUCH cheaper than a 1/2" one at the tank (for some reason is impossible to find simple plastic diaphragm check valves that large. Wonder if you could use a PCV valve at the tank instead?).
