Yeah, I tend to agree with Bill about removing the O2 sensor
if you aren't using it.  If you still want it there for
looks, per se then just cut the business end off and screw
it back in.

EGR was PITA on 80's GMs.  Would have replaced with plate,
but mechanic warned me not to saying that it would cause
even worse noise.  Replacing every so often was so expensive
that I wanted to find a way to just get rid of it -- and I
did...  Gave the car to a friend who admired it.  Heck, with
a DeLorean, what was the point in putting money into a GM
rust bucket?
