>Farrar, you are the first guy I have ever heard complain that beer is too >cold. I can enjoy a dark beer at room temperature when others would gag on >it. But my preference is to have it at least chilled. Depends on the beer. Here in the US we drink mostly swill with all that 'fresh beer' stuff. Temperature definitely changes the flavor. Warm Budweiser would definitely make me puke, well, any Budweiser would really ;) >I thought that it was carbon dioxide that is in beer. You mean it's >supposed to be nitrogen instead? I thought that CO2 was a natural byproduct >of the fermentation. CO2 is created due to the fermentation process and enhanced by adding sugar. To much sugar and the can will deform or the bottle will pop its own top. Guinness, real Guinness, is not carbonated unless you buy that crap in the bottle they used to sell. The large can, and the newer bottle, has a nitrogen pellet in it that releases when you open the can but you still have to pour it properly. The bottle that has the yellow label in the picture below is the evil beer I speak of. http://www.guinness.com/guinness/en/gatewayC/0,8111,125449_126269,00.html The proper dispenser in a bar would have the long, black tip that injects nitrogen as they pour the beer. I have seen so many places with the proper nozzle that can't even pour it properly which makes it even worse. The history at the above link is also very interesting. Greg Yahoo!
