I take it from this statement that you're missing the rubber sound 
deadener that goes around the gearstick under the leather boot :-)

I was missing it and never knew till I told my friend to look at his 
linkage by removing the leather boot, and he said "what about the big 
rubber thing?" (that was Paul Salsbury, BTW)

Paul, I've upgraded my engine to 170hp, I think you'll like it. Going to 
take it to Stevenage for the weekend, and Steve's coming up with PSO too.
