I meant I was going to check the valve positions in accordance with 
your procedure. One tooth off would show up by doing it as you 
recommend wouldn't it?

Also, is it possible to be one tooth off and still not strike the 
valves with the pistons?

How far off could you be and still remain clear?

Depending on the weather, I see me getting "sick" tomorrow to kill 
this off once and for all...;-)
