RE: [DMCForum] De Lorean De Livery...

Project Impact?

I have a fair condition passenger door for sale if you're interested. I
will probably be putting it on eBay next week. It's in PA though.

Well, #0909 was delivered today amongst a media circus, and by a media
circus I mean me, a camera, and the driver. A few things to report that
I
thought were interesting, if anyone is interested.

According to the papers that came with the car, it was licensed,
insured,
and being driven up to at least December 2001. During that time it
changed
hands for a whopping $9,000.00, much higher than what I paid.

Also, since this car is from Georgia, and apparently Tampa, Florida
before
that, it has the Georgia emission statement with it. The numbers on the
engine seem to be well within the guidelines, exceptionally so actually.
That is, if I am reading it correctly. Were I live we are not required
to
have emission testing or state inspections.

One other point of interest is the crushed passenger door. When the
tape
was removed, I simply reached in, lifted the door handle and she popped
right open like it should. In fact, it would very likely latch back on
the
pins if I wanted them to but I was worried about ruining my good luck
and
the door getting stuck. I have always wondered how the De Lorean would
do
in a side-impact. Wasn't the side impact regulation put in force later?
Anyway, it seems the latch pins didn't even move during the impact.
That is
of course only judging by eye; I will have to take some measurements.
The
front striker pin is very slightly bent so that will need to be
replaced.

I have uploaded three pictures to the photo section on the Yahoo
DMCForum
page and will upload more later on.

Now I need a name for this project. Any comments?

Greg
