According to him (on the DVD commentary interview whatever thing), the DMC-12 was powered by "a four-cylinder Volvo engine", and the doors were supported "only" by "gas struts" which were always crapping out because it was so cold. Survey says: [buzzz] Then again he said they chose it for the gullwing doors, not because they had any affection for the car. He didn't know much about it to begin with nor did he intend to become knowledgeable. One thing I respect however is that Zemeckis does not "improve" his movies. Take THAT, George Lucas!
