I have a 170 on 06068, and think it looks fine. This care came with it, so I dont know the process of modification. I think Grady at one point did this conversion for people so you may want to contact him. There was a 140MPH decal made by a DML member a few years ago. I purchased one, but have not installed it. It came with calibration instructions (I think it was, take it to someone who calibrates speedometers!) Either way, neither looked "crappy" -----Original Message----- From: Walter Coe [mailto:Whalt@xxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 12:42 AM To: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [DMCForum] 170 mph speedometer conversion <SNIP> 4) The 170mph speedo upgrades that are basically a bumper sticker decal that covers up the 85mph speedo. Like you mentioned before, I was suspicious that recalibration of the speedo meant changing a gear since 2*85=170. But as far as I have heard, recalibration involves changing/rearranging magnets. All of the 170mph decal conversions that I have seen looked real crappy. It looks like they used a razor blade (and plenty of caffeine) to cut out holes for the turn signal & headlight indicators. If anyone has a different take on what is out there, I'm curious to know too. Walt To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: DMCForum-unsubscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Your use of Yahoo!
