As I wrote: The doors are powered... In my opinion the DeLorean doors are very clever in that they do not need ANY depletive powersource such as electricity or pneumatic pressure (like the later conversion on the Bricklin). They use stored energy in the form of a spring (which the torsionbar aactually is); you store the energy needed to open the car by closng it! > I wonder how they actually did this with that > massive hinge, or what appears to be a hinge. I THINK the two things you see are not the actual hinges. If I had to guess I'd say the hinges are placed INSIDE the T-roof and ahat you see are C-shaped brackets running from the hinge to the door. If you look closely in the front- and back pics, you can see the doors open OVER the T-roof instead of into/under it like on the DeLorean. This requires a hinge-point INSIDE the roof... As for the methood used, this could be done with tube-motor (translation could be faulty), a couple of electric actuators or some hydraulic or pneumatic cilinders moving a leversystem inside the roof... The roof appears to be quite thick, so it could fit? JAN van de Wouw Thinking Different... Using a Mac... Living the Dream...
