I just made sure it wasn't in the heater mode and its still doesn't open. I can hear the doors open and close in the other positions of the mode switch. I have been in the engine compartment a lot since I'm having a really bad hot start problem. But I looked around and didn't see any thing I might have knocked loose. I guess the next step is to take the mode switch out? It you want hot/warm air blowing from the center console vents then put it on "vent" and turn the heater control valve to the red area. The difference between "heater" & "vent" modes is how the air is directed -- not in their ability to change air temperature. However, if your center vent isn't opening in any mode then you most likely have a vacuum problem. Try this test: With the engine running turn the fan speed switch all the way down (so you can hear what is going on in the dash). Now turn the mode switch through all its positions and listen for all the vacuum actuated flapper doors to move. If you hear nothing, then you probably have a vacuum hose loose in the engine compartment. If you hear flapper doors moving but still no air through the center vents then you probably have a faulty mode switch or a leaky vacuum actuator.
