Jim, Re highways: I couldn't find such an option on Mapquest; but I might try Microsoft Strips & Treets since it's cheap software and supposed to be pretty good. Re Virginia: Unfortunately, the longest leg of the trip will be from Memphis, TN to Boone, NC -- I can't make a detour up to Shenandoah without a place to stay, and since I'm broke (well, almost) I only stay where I have friends to crash with. :) However, this location has been noted for a future trip when I have more time and money.
