I wonder if it was this guy:

"Dear Webmaster, Your site is great. I've wanted a DeLorean ever since I
went to prison for stealing one in 1983..." -Received via email

I've actually been considering doing this too since I'm going to be moving
into an older part of Charlotte when I graduate in May. My car already has a
Code Alarm... but I want to make sure I can find my car if someone ever
takes it away from me. I actually just read an article about this online
yesterday
http://www.hmn.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/articles.editorial/article_id/58 .
Only 23% of collector cars stolen are ever found, and only 1/4 of THOSE are
returned intact. Really kind of startling statistics. Somebody said
something about "the club"... I saw on TV a while back where theifs just use
a small hack saw to cut the steering wheel and remove the club. Takes them
less than 30 seconds to do it.
Regarding DeLoreans being stolen, I've got an entertaining story to tell. I
remember sitting at a car show with my D a couple of years back and a
scruffy looking guy in his early 20s came up and looked at my car carrying
his 3-4 year old daughter on his shoulders. He was BRAGGING to her about how
he stole one in Houston and drove it around a day or two before he finally
got caught. He was telling her this was when he was "young and crazy." I
just love hearing the crazy things people say when they see a DeLorean...
but this one was one of my favorites because it was just so damn different
lol. -Louie
