Just got off the phone with my sister (works in satellite
communications. Actually writes the code that fires the rockets to
position them). She informed me DSS satellites merely rebroadcast
signals originally received off C band! (All the popular channels) A
quick web search verifies. Baby dish signal first bounces unmolested
off the big birds, gets converted and compressed, is shot back up to
the KU satellite, then is decompressed at the far end. This is the
"superior" quality baby dish owners are so proud of.
