I recommend what Jim is saying. I've heard that in some manual 
transmissions, in neutral, that the gear oil doesn't get flung around 
onto the necessary parts and causes premature wear due to lack of 
lubrication. I'm not sure if the DeLorean transmission is like this 
but why take the chance?
You're obviously not going to tow the car in gear. Disconnecting the 
axles is easy and then the only thing getting any wear is the rear 
wheel bearings.
